Green Tea Bag

My lovely parrot just loosed an unattended tea bag onto my carpet. I'm pretty sure she just chewed through the bag and didn't actually concentrate and eat any. How bad is this for the bird?

Probably not the best thing in the world for them, but I can't see it causing real harm, esp if it just happened once.

Haha yeah, Glaukopis is a name I go by elsewhere, so I was rather amused.

I'll add you back, but my LJ is rather boring of late!

I'd imagine the biggest danger there would be caffeene, but if it's decaf, it shouldn't be that big of a deal.

Also your bird is adorable. Timmy Greys always are.

Birds should never be given tea, coffee or alcohol to drink.

My guess is that in this case, the teabag was merely investigated, it is unlikely that she would have actually eaten any of the leaves.

Yeah. After she tore through the bag and dumped the contents on the floor she chewed the paper tag off the string.

My timneh loves to steal tea bags out of unattended mugs (usually cold) to chew the paper tag and occasionally through the bag too! Sneaky little devil - it can make such a mess! Usually it's just peppermint tea, so at least it smells good!
